    Description

When your trusty 1520's engine starts burning oil, losing compression, or just doesn't have the power it used to, it's time for more than just routine maintenance. This basic engine overhaul kit gives you everything you need to bring that 3-cylinder diesel back to life—except you'll need to order the main and rod bearings separately to complete the job.

    What You're Getting

    • Complete sleeve and seal kit to restore proper cylinder walls and compression
    • High-quality pistons with rings already fitted, plus pins and retainers for reliable operation
    • Pin bushings that handle the connecting rod loads these engines are known for
    • Full gasket set and crankshaft seals to prevent leaks and keep fluids where they belong
    • Keystone top compression rings that seal tight without grooves on the sleeves

    Built for Real Farm Work

The 1520 has always been a versatile utility tractor that handles everything from brush hogging to loader work to pulling small implements. This 164 cubic inch, 3-cylinder diesel might not be the biggest engine John Deere made, but it's proven itself reliable for decades of farm use. Whether you're maintaining fence rows, feeding cattle, or doing general farmyard tasks, this kit gets your 1520 back to dependable service.

    Made to Last

This Tru-Power kit uses the same quality standards as the original equipment that came in your tractor. The sleeves are precision-machined to handle the thermal cycles and loads these engines see, while the pistons and rings are built to maintain compression season after season.

    Good to Know

This is a basic kit, so you'll need to order main and rod bearings separately—check the rod bolt length first and add either TP-R74194 for 2.125 inch bolts or TP-R80033 for 2.325 inch bolts. The kit uses the standard 4.02 inch bore size, and installation requires standard machine shop work to press in the sleeves and fit the pistons.
